Is custom software expensive?

The first cost can look higher than a licence. The comparison is incomplete until the monthly cost of scattered work is written down.

Does this count as a CRM?

Yes, to the extent of the customer record you actually use. Unused modules are not an advantage.

When a boxed program does not fit, custom software cuts duplicate work and scattered records. The advantage is not selling everyone the same package.
